Arlington is a wonderful place to live and work, which has attracted many new residents over the last decade. Our sense of community, quality schools and attention to quality growth has placed us on the map in the region as a place to live. Arlington residents take pride in their
community and participate in a number of community events throughout the year, including the annual Christmas Parade, Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day celebrations, Arlington in April, and Harvest Gathering.
A number of municipal services are operated by the Town, including the Sam T. Wilson public library, and the Arlington Senior Citizen’s Center. Fire protection is provided by the Town, with 14 full-time and 12 reserve
firemen, and contracts with Rural-Metro for ambulance services. Law enforcement is provided by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, which has a station in Arlington. More than 80 sheriff deputies operate
out of the Arlington sub-station. Solid waste trash collection and recycling are outsourced. Utilities, including water, gas and electric services, are owned and operated by Memphis Light, Gas and Water.
The Town owns and operates its own sewer system.
